Thinking about my dad, brother and grandfather on this Memorial Day. All went to war and, thankfully, came home. They carried, or carry, the deep scars which come with living in horror.
Remembering family and friends who’ve left us here, with our ever dimming memories, on this spinning blue marble. What we ultimately leave behind are people filled with the love we give.
And thinking friends and family, fighting illness, struggling with sadness, worried for their futures… we’re all here together… squeeze those you love (and throw in a few hugs for strangers if you see fit, they need love too.)
A solemn call for peace, love and understanding on this day of memories.
Road – Nick Drake
“You can say the sun is shining if you really want to
I can see the moon and it seems so clear
You can take the road that takes you to the stars now
I can take a road that’ll see me through
I can take a road that’ll see me through.”
Eternal Life – Jeff Buckley
“There’s no time for hatred, only questions
Where is love, where is happiness, what is Life, where is peace?”
Up On The Roof – Laura Nyro
“At night the stars put on a show for free and, darling, you can share it all with me.
I keep a-telling you, right smack dab in the middle of town,
I’ve found a paradise that’s trouble proof
(up on the roof)
And if this world starts getting you down,
there’s room enough for two up on the roof
(up on the roof)”
Wild Country – Chris Whitley
“There`s miles of stone, jack hammer in my hand
There`s compromises, I cant comprehend
soon I am gonna lose these rags and run
Returning to the wild where I`m from
Returning to the wild where I`m from”
1983…(A Merman I Should Turn To Be) – Jimi Hendrix
“Hurray I awake from yesterday
Alive but the war is here to stay
So my love Catherina and me
Decide to take our last walk
Thru the noise to the sea
Not to die but to be reborn
Away from the lands so battered and torn
Of course the regular stuff returns tomorrow. Love is all you need!
