2012 Kings!

The Kings are the Stanley Cup Champions!

I know to most of you Hockey is that minor sport played by a bunch o’ Canadyishers who wear tooks, say ‘eh’ and eat back bacon and donuts but it’s more than that to me. I love it. I was fascinated the first time I saw them skating. I played for years. Before we had ice rinks my friends and I played with taped up brooms and baseballs in parking lots. And the pros? When I could scrape together money I’d buy student tickets and move down to the glass… the ushers didn’t care. We’d play hip-check in the parking lot of the Forum before games. I split season tickets with friends and even went to Ducks games. I went to see Long Beach Ice Dogs. I even remember the LA Sharks. But the KINGS are my team. And I’ve lived with the utter disappointment that comes with that. It was like being a Cubs fan. At any moment they’d break your heart and smile at your tears. My heart is unbroken this morning. I’m smiling. I’m doing the pumperknickle! Go Kings Go! – KP
